Understanding LexConnect and Edmodo

On September 24, 2012

The district will continue to use LexConnect as the place where parents can access their student’s network files, email (middle and high school students only), grades and attendance.

Parents of middle and high school students will also be able to access their student’s email account.

If a parent does not yet have a LexConnect account they can obtain their LexConnect information by coming to school during regular school hours. If parents are unable to come during regular school hours they may call to make an appointment 821-4900.

Parents who have used LexConnect in the past will continue to use the same log in information they have used previously. If parents who have used LexConnect in the past are having difficulty logging in they should go to the CSMS Parent Technology Help page on this website and fill out the form.

Edmodo (http://lexington1.edmodo.com/)

This year Lexington 1 parents and students will have access to a new Learning Management System (LMS) called Edmodo. This LMS will give teachers and students a safe online environment to collaborate and communicate. Teachers will be able to post lesson plans, lesson materials, give online assessments, and assign, as well as receive, assignments in one location.

In order for students to use Edmodo, we are asking that parents and students sign the Edmodo Student Code of Conduct (page 33 of 2012-2013 Forms and Notices packet). After this is returned, a teacher will give the student a code for his/her class. The student will use this code to create a student Edmodo account. Once they have that account they can add other teachers’ classes using codes given by those teachers. Parents can also create a parent account using a parent code that can be located in their student’s Edmodo account (see video below for detailed instructions for how this is done).
