A Message from Mr. Zwart:

At the June 16, 2015 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the promotion of Brice L.S. Cockfield, Ed.D., to principal of Carolina Springs Middle School.

Brice L.S. Cockfield, Ed.D., who currently serves as assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School, replaces CSMS Principal Alan G. Zwart, who retires effective June 30, 2015.

Brice Cockfield has 15 years of educational experience. He began his career as an English language arts and mathematics instructor at Saluda Middle School and was named Saluda County Teacher of the Year in 2003–2004.

In 2004, Dr. Cockfield was promoted to the position of assistant principal at Saluda Primary School. While at Saluda Primary, He served as principal and assistant principal.

In 2006, he joined Lexington One as assistant principal at Pelion Elementary School and transferred in 2014 to the position of assistant principal at Deerfield Elementary School when the school opened in the fall.

Dr. Cockfield holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Newberry College, a Master of Education in divergent learning from Columbia College, and a Master of Education in educational administration K–12, an Educational Specialist and a Doctor of Education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina. He also holds certifications as superintendent, elementary principal, elementary supervisor and elementary teacher.

He is a member of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Brice Cockfield to CSMS. He will assume his duties as Principal on July 1st.
